2 smoker Group: I'm sorry to say that the great plan for the Delaware convoy has fell apart. Looks like I will not make it back from my latest middle east vacation until Nov. Half a world away but can still keep track of the racing action via the web. I have to say after almost 20 years of doing these gigs the web sure beats smail mail. Anyways, enough rambling; race em hard and party with them after!

Hey Greg, you stay safe over there and thanks for the work that you do keeping us all safe. Now don't get crazy, we still won''t cut you any slack on the track.

I drove the sprint car last night (may 19) at Hollywood Hills. I was doin OK but when I knew that the leaders were comming up to lap me I wanted to stay well out of thier way so I moved down to the bottom early, praticed for a couple of laps before they came by,,,, reminded me of a time when I was runnin that line at Caplin and you couldn't get by me. Gary Ellis was getting away so I finaly pulled over and slowed on the streight, you caught him but, I had held you up so long you didn't have a chance to get by Embarassed

Thanks!

Man...I envy you; lapped or not you are driving the king of all race cars!

Have to make sure we replay that race at Mugsys when I get back. Might not be the fast guy anymore but I can still talk smack over beverages.

If somebody wants to drive to Texas I have an Unlimited, Super Stock and Yamaha just sitting there begging to be raced. It's almost criminal but I had to leave so quick this time there was no way I could do anything with the stuff.

No IKF Nats but I will be back in time for the in-door nationals in Tunica over Thanksgiving.

Whats this I here the scooby van is in the music buisness now?

It's kind of a pain but, I unload the extra tires 18.0 X HUGE X 15 ,,, the torsion bars, 55 gal drum of methanol, tools, jack, winch (all the stuff you don't need for karting),,, and in goes the drum kit, amplifiers, mic stands, boxes with cords (oh yea, I leave the extension cords, lights at the track, power for the amps at the "gig") then switch it all back for the race car. The band gets a little pissed when they find grease on thier guitars but, so far, they still want me to move em,,,,,

I'm thinking Dennis is done with karting. After his trailer getting ripped off he decided to tag on to the Sprint Car thing. His little 4 wheeler (Mikey) is gone with the trailer but, the bigger one he got from Donny Cruz is all decked out for pushin the sprinter. He added a push bar (with a Maxsis tire) now he's bulding a rack to hold fule jugs, jack,,, whatever ,,, So I come in from hot laps and here comes Dennis spittin mud, he's got a good coating all over him, and a BIG smile,,,, "don't try watchin from turn 2 by the push lane" ,,, seems after he pushed me and Jeff over to the push off lane he cruzed down to the fence at turn 2 as a pack of sprinters were commin by Embarassed

Hey Greg, Steves last race was in Honor of you guys..it was ARMED FORCES DAY!! Thanks for your hard work all these years in the Air Force.

I know you have connections with the quartermaster, If I watch Steve run with the big boys agian from my mud slinging vantage point between turn 3 and 4, I will be in need of a full face sheild and a Flack Jacket if you have any laying around!!

The Sprint car gig is a lot of both work and fun. I wouldnt feel right at the end of a Saturday if I wasnt eating, breathing and wearing a little mud.

Steve forgot to mention that he forgot his wallet Saturday. So somehow I became his Fuel Sponsor for that event. Laughing

Also a little Karting history is carried on in the fact that the Maxxis HT4 tire that is strapped on the front of my pusher quad is the right rear tire off of Mike Clausens kart when he set the all time Caplin track record for fastest lap. ('05 Nationals.)

(P.S. Greg, send me an e-mail so I can get your addy.)

Whats a guy to do if all his karting buds are off sprint car racing.

Dennis...thanks; way bummed to hear about the trailer rip off. I know how much work you put in it. Too bad folks can't keep their paws off other folk's stuff. I'll bring back my Kevlar and IBA for you to wear at the races. My addy while I'm here is grjones77@hotmail.com

Sounds like everyone is having a blast with the sprint car gig. And of course; the scooby van is adding to it's already legendary history. If you get the chance send a pic or 2 of you guys at the races.

Wish I was there but till then drive hard and turn left!

I see where the Forum has a new member, Madbrad. Perhaps he has some interesting stories to tell about Nationals?

Brad, You will be happy to know that we are grooming the infield of the track with weeds especally for you. I figure if we dont give the rattlesnakes a place to live, you will never return to Caplin Speedway.

As of the '05 Nationals you didn't stitch that snake skin on your neck collar. I hope you still have it as I still have the article in Karter News and Go racing that tells about "The Rattlesnake Tamers".

I could tell the story of You wanting to take that Rattler home as a pet, but I am sure your team-mates who had to drive home with it in the car back to Iowa could tell a whole different version of the story.

Ah, The good old days, Gone but not forgotten. Glad to see you are alive and still active in Karting. Just wondering, are there any Rattlers in the Corn patches where you guys race your karts? (jk)

Hummm. If Madbrad is Brad Moriarty, the post above is for you.

If Madbrad is Brad Downs, then how the heck are ya? Hows Andrew doin? It was fun last year with you guys.

There, now I covered all the Brads I know. This site doset get any traffic and nobody dose a profile anymore or signs their posts so I just kinda guess at whats goin on. If the site was cleaned up a bit, some stuff would make sense. Like Jimmys post is just sitting there with no relevance cause we all had to pull our sprint car posts.

Any chance of finishing this site ever? No rules, classes, minutes or announcments? The front page is the same as it was three months ago with a background photo of road race Karts turning right. Like a Ford dealer with a Chevy logo. Guess the kids who made the site are gone and we wont see an update till school starts in the Fall. Nice job but not very informative. Glad to see everything is under control.

Five races sinse the points sheet was updated and no IKF results either here or on the IKF site...just curious.

Should I tell the sprint car driver karting story?

What do you get when you get 18 Sprint drivers/crew who get rained out at HHS and go to the indoor kart track?

You get........BLACK FLAGS.

Ya know, we really dont have a tech forum area and this is kind of a 2 cycle question anyways.

There are a lot of different oils on the market, all for various applications. I know the basics of a lot of 'em such as motor oil and castor based oils.

Some oils still puzzle me. Like I know that Corn oil is made from Corn. Olive oil is made from Olives, Peanut form Peanut.

The one thats most puzzeling of all. Baby Oil .

Baby oil is made from mineral oil with added fragrance Smile However, it's been my observation that babie fragrance is not very pleasing, must be distilled Rolling Eyes

Steve, There ya go agian with the Sprin Car posts. I suppose your only tryin to keep your race program alive as well as to promote Hollywood Hills Speedway. http://www.sanfelipecasino.com/pages04/speedway_generalschedule.php

This is all good in the sense that the more the general public is exposed to any form of motorsports racing, the more likely they will look at an affordable means to participate themselfs. (IE, Karting @ ASK, or the rental kart tracks.)
http://www.route66karting.com/track.html
http://abqkarting.com/Racing.html

I can pretty much assure you that these tracks are not by any means making much profit from their businesses, so by supporting them is at least an avenue to generate intrest in ASK as a club.

From the general comments/e-mails that I have recieved from the race community, ASK seems to be at a stand still as far as growth and its attempt to reach the public in the form of advertising/exposure. This is not progressive by any means and will certianly resut in an even further decline in Karting at Caplin Speedway. I personally have worked hard with many race orginizations locally in an effort to keep motorsports alive and have seen some survive and some vanish into the New Mexico dust.

Can we at least try not to let Caplin vanish into the Mesa? Your club-Your call.
