Ex Karters continue to dominate the field at Hollywood Hills Speedway.

Mini Sprint Main-9-1-07

1 #47 Brandon Shelton
2 #17 DJ Snyder
3 #19 Jordan Mattson
4 #95 Aaron Wheeler
5 #36 Kaylene Verville
6 #7H Jerry Higginbotham
7 #72 Mike Brewer
8 #68 Brian Perea
9 #14 Jim Massey
10 #2 Matthew Cordova
11 #5 Jeremy Schofield - DNF
12 #2M Cory Mallo - DNF
13 #66 Lonnie Siaz - DNF
14 45X Ryan Culpepper - DNF
15 #8 Chris Perea - DNF
16 #22X David Gay - DNF
17 #77 John Massey - DNS
18 #2X Cody Masnfield - DN

This was a fantastic race with some of the slickest moves I've seen from young gun DJ Snyder. The battle for the top spot between #47 Brandon Shelton and #17 DJ Snyder was non stop from start to finish with local favorite Jordan Mattson charging hard for the third spot kept DJ Snyder busy but was not able to pull off the 2nd spot before the checker came out. It will be interesting to see how things shake out tomorrow night.

Mini Sprint Main Event 9-2-07
#19X Jordan Mattson – Always FAST, ready for a full size Sprint ????
#17 D.J. Snyder – Always at the front, great race with Mattson
#47 Brandon Shelton – Phoenix driver won last night, very close tonight
#72 Mike Brewer – Great job, first night out, driving Bruce Hosea’s car
#7H Jerry Higginbotham – Has been very fast the last few weeks, a win soon ??
#77 John Massey – Another driver who is really stepping up
#8 Chris Perea – Good steady race
#45X Ryan Culpepper – DNF - Top winged pulled up causing LOTS of drag
#68 Brian Perea – DNF
#2 Matthew Cordova – DNF
#95 Aaron Wheeler – DNF – Has really come on lately but mechanical woes ended his night
#22X David Gay – DNS
#36 Kaylene Verville – DNS – Long tow from Arizona to not make the race ( OUCH )

Special thanks to: Bob & Karen Ingram for the excelent race coverage on http://www.ovalracin.com

Dennis,
Thanks for the post. It was a great weekend for Jordan and DJ.

By the way, I will answer the long awaited question of when will Jordan get in a full size sprint car. Jordan will strap in to the car #24 owned by Russ Gossett on Saturday night 9-8-2007. This will be for a practice during the intermission. If all goes well, this will be followed by a full race night on 9-22-2007.

Thanks to all the people from the karting world that helped us get to where we are today. I hate to list you becuase I am bound to forget someone but here it goes:Jim Guthrie, Pat Barr, Greg Jomes, Dennis Smith, JT Meyers, Adam Mullincoff, Dennis Sedlak, Travis and Julie Greenwood and Lee Caplin. The People that spend the time to teach you the basics in the begining will always have a respect that will never go away. THANKS GUYS!!!

None of this could have been possible without karting.

Thanks,
Todd Mattson

The test went great!! Jordan went out and was on the gas on the second lap. The problem was he was over driving the track conditions. On the second through fourth rounds he was very controlled. The track conditions were the worst I have ever seen. It was glazed over from the top to bottom. This was a great test of car control.

Steve, i'm looking forward to seeing who comes out on top(you or Jordan) on the 22nd.

He has strong goals for his first race. To finish the race without being kicked off the track for two spins. That is it. OOh and to finish in front of you Steve if possible.

Thanks,
Todd

Chris is going to be in the car the 22nd but, I'm sure it will be a good run for both of the boys Very Happy . Russ has good equipment and I'm sure Jordan will be haulin so I don't think we'll be much of a threat.

Jordan as we saw it was 8th and some nifty driving at the end to miss the wreck right in front of him. He put on a pretty good show for his first race in that car, seemed like his tire or something went away towards the end. Great job jordan, you can come back to the kart track and kick my butt any day. LOL Chris looks to be gettng more comfortable behind the wheel every race I have seen him in way to go chris, you to dad.

We did finish 8th in the main (starting 21st). To answer your comment Cory about the car going away, you read the car correct. About half way through the race the car started to pick up a push. We had been trying to free it up all night and did not go far enough I guess. Jordan exceeded all goals we had for the night(by alot) so I am calling the night a huge success. Did anyone happen to have a video going of the night or know of someone who my have? Ours did not turn out. Next week we will run both cars, that should be interesting.

Todd, I didn't bring mine due to Robbi saying that you had theres. I guess thats Irony just like the guy flipping in the first heat. That about turned into a brawl in the stands the 2 parents were sitting next to each other, quite interesting. Tell jordan good luck on saturday, won't be able to be there still trying to get that first IKF win.
